Tanjung Sepat - Day 1

A couple of weeks ago, the family decided to head over to Tanjung Sepat as we had read that there were several famous foods there mainly their seafood, keropok, pau and of course their fish balls.

We kicked off at 7.30 am and arrived at Tanjung Sepat at roughly about 9 pm. Since it was a weekday, traffic was generally smooth and we took our time getting there.

Our first stop was to head to the furthest location from Tanjung Sepat which was the Multi Rich Pitaya Red Dragon Fruit Farm. It is roughly 20km from Tanjung Sepat almost approaching Sepang.

Upon arriving at the location, there was nobody to be seen (maybe cause it was a weekday) however once we got out of the car a kind lady (the owner) came out to greet us. She showed us around, provided free dragon fruit tasting and let us roam around her Dragon Fruit Farm. Mind you she was very generous with it as well, we each had 1/6 of a Dragon Fruit. Her Dragon Fruit proved to be extremely sweet, juicy and huge in size. 3 Dragon Fruits easily weighed in at 2.1kg which is about 700g a fruit.

We roamed around her farm for a while and then decided that we had to make a move as there were several other places more to go. We bought some Dragon Fruit, RM8/kg which i think is well worth for the quality of fruit that we are getting and headed to our next destination.

The Red Dragon Fruit Farm is located at:
Multi-Rich Pitaya Sdn Bhd
A-126,Kampung Baru
43900 Sepang
Selangor D.E.

We initially wanted to visit the Longan Fruit Farm in Sungai Pelek, but were informed by the Dragon Fruity Lady that it would only be open on Saturdays and Sundays. Since we were there on a weekday, we had to give this a skip.

On another note, it seems to me that the Dragon Fruit Farm, Longan Fruit Farm as well as the Tapioca Chips Factory are all owned by the same person as wherever you go, these 3 are always advertised together.

We decided then to head to the Arowana Tapioca Chips Factory next.

An assortment of tapioca chips are available here ranging from Pumpkin/Dhall/Onion/Sweet Potato and many more. All these are available in difference flavors such as black pepper, chilly, hot and spicy and original. Samples of the chips are provided for testing purposes so that you are able to try to various options before making a purchase. We found the chips to be excellent and very fresh.

Arowana Tapioca Chips Factory is located at:

By the time we were done purchasing the chips it was already time for lunch. We headed over to Lover's Bridge hoping to try out Ocean Seafood Restaurant, which unfortunately was closed, so we settled for Restaurant Ban Joo Hing instead.

Taufu Kang (RM 16)

Stir Fried Brussels (RM 10)

Steam Lala (RM 20)

Fried Squid (RM 18)

The food was generally good, stir fried brussels were a little on the oily side but it was cooked just nice. The steamed lala was fresh, it was not overcooked, had a strong wine and ginger taste which brought out the lala's flavor. The fried squid was also done quite well, not rubbery and the batter had a nice buttery fragrance. Only the Taufu Kang fell short which we found to be overly flavorful and left us very thirsty after the meal.

Restaurant Ban Joo Hing is located at:
Jalan Senangin 3,

After lunch, we decided to head over to Lover's Bridge.
Lover's Bridge

Bought some pineapples from a nearby seller. According to him, this is called the Sarawak King Pineapple. He was selling it at RM5 each if i was not mistaken. It is extremely sweet and juicy, not to be missed.

Sarawak King Pineapple

Once done purchasing the pineapples, we decided that it was time to head over to Gano Farm Homestay. We had made a reservation for 1 night (RM 138) for 4 adults. Gano Farm Homestay is located just down the road from Lover's Bridge. Besides being a homestay, Gano Farm also cultivates and research mushrooms.

Gano Farm Homestay

The room was cosy 2 queen beds with basic amenities such as air conditioning, hot water shower, lcd tv, towels, bathroom slippers and a view of the sea. In my opinion well worth the price for a homestay.

Gano Farm is located at:
Lot 700, Jalan Laut Membiru Taman Pelangi,
42800 Tanjung Sepat,
Selangor Darul Ehsan.

We crashed for the day in the room until it was time for dinner.

We headed back once again to Lover's Bridge and decided to have dinner at Lover's Bridge Seafood Restaurant.

Kam Heong Crabs (RM43, 1kg)

Curry Bamboo Lala (RM 14)

Stir Fried Lettuce (RM 8)

House Specialty Squid (RM 28)

The food was excellent and much better compared Ban Joo Hing. The crabs were of decent size, 3 crabs and were very fresh, the flesh was firm and the taste was delicious. The curry bamboo lala were fairly large and the sauce had this unique combination of the typical curry sauce with long beans combined with "chai poh" which gave it a savory taste with a cruch when the sauce is eaten with rice. The house specialty squid looked like a fairly simple dish, grilled squid with fried garlic but it was grilled to perfection and its simplicity allowed us to fully enjoy the natural taste of the squid.
